These are the things that truly earned their keep in our home
Baby Sleep Essentials
Crib - This is your choice! Parents love choosing the crib that suits their lifestyle and baby’s room best. Just remember to get a crib mattress, waterproof liner, and sheets as well! I’ll link some of these below. I personally love the BabyLetto Crib with Toddler Conversion because it passes test for harsh chemicals and coverts to a toddler bed as your little one gets bigger!
Bassinet - A bassinet is a great option if you plan on having baby sleeping in your room early on and want something that won’t take up much room. There are many wonderful options, these are top rated and have different aspects to each!
Rocking Chair / Glider- This is great to have in baby’s nursery, or even your own room for calming down and soothing, as well as feeding your baby.
Storkcraft Rocker
(over 20k positive reviews on Amazon!)
Baby Monitor- Choosing a baby monitor is completely personal. Some parents swear by Wi‑Fi‑enabled monitors for remote viewing, others prefer non‑Wi‑Fi units for peace of mind, and some stick with audio‑only monitors. Do what feels best for you and your family — here are a few of my top favorite picks.
Infant Optics
Non-Wifi Monitor
Eufy
Non-Wifi Monitor
Nanit
Wifi Monitor
VTech
Audio Only
Night Light- Having access to a night light is key when you're feeding in the middle of the night or doing late night diaper changes! I've always loved this one. It doesn't need to be plugged in, portable and has dimmable light which helps a ton! Super convenient!
Humidifier- A humidifier can make the nursery feel more comfortable, especially during dry months. Some parents love them, some skip them — it’s totally personal! I personally love to use it when my kiddos have a cold or runny nose because it keeps the air moist and makes it easier for babies to breathe! If you do use one, these are a few simple, reliable options I love.
Sound Machines - one thing I NEVER skip! It doesn’t need to be fancy, just consistent white noise to help baby sleep. It not only creates a soothing sleep environment, but also helps block out household noise that could wake your little one. These are some of my favorite simple, reliable picks.
Crib Mattress- Choose a standard crib mattress of your choice. Your crib mattress should fit securely in the crib with no gaps between mattress and crib rails, as this could pose a risk to baby.
Bedding- Remember, your baby’s crib should be kept completely clear. Items like stuffed animals, crib bumpers, pillows, and extra blankets (other than a properly used swaddle or sleep sack) are not considered safe for sleep according to AAP guidelines.
Feeding Baby
This category can be a bit scattered, as before baby comes, we don't know what exactly their preferences are! Register for a few 'possibilities' with different brands so you can test them out with baby. You can always return the extras! There are some specifications included for women who plan to breastfeed, and women who plan to formula feed!
Bottles- When it comes to bottles, there’s one key thing to remember: there’s no such thing as the "best bottle." Every baby is different, and it's impossible to predict which bottle your little one will prefer. Instead of registering for multiples of the same brand, consider selecting 1-2 bottles from a few different brands. That way, you'll have a variety to try and can always return the ones you don’t use.
Dr. Browns Bottles - These are wonderful classic bottles. I’ve used them for both of my babies and they were the bottle provided to us when our second baby was in the NICU as they’re good at helping baby pace themselves. I really like them, but they have a lot of pieces to clean just FYI!
Pigeon Bottles- These are known for their soft, nipple-like shape and wide neck design, making them easy to clean and ideal for transitioning between breast and bottle feeding.
Lansinoh Bottles - Have natural wave nipple design that closely mimics breastfeeding, making them a great choice for babies transitioning between breast and bottle.
Comotomo Bottles - These are a great soft, silicone option
Favorite Items for Cleaning Baby Items
MomCozy Bottle Washer – Ok, hear me out. I know this is a splurge (cough *put this on your registry* cough), but trust me, it’s worth every penny. This isn’t just a bottle washer—it washes, dries, and sterilizes everything in one go. If you're a mom who's always on the go, this is a total game-changer. It saved me so much time (and sanity) I can’t even explain. Once you have it, you'll wonder how you ever survived without it. Seriously, add it to your registry. You won’t regret it.
BabyBrezza Bottle Washer- I don't personally have this one, but its a similar concept so if you wanted another option for this!
Bottle Brushes- These come in handy for a quick wash and you always want to make sure you're using a different sponge for your bottles than you do for anything else you clean!
Bibs & Burp Cloths
Bibs – Did you know there are actually two kinds of bibs? There are food bibs for when you're starting solids (see my faves below), and drool bibs for the younger babes who are still in the teething phase. Drool bibs are thinner and softer, but they do a great job keeping your little one’s clothes dry and free of drool (definitely a must-have for those drooly days!)
Burp Cloths – You’ll want a stash of burp cloths (and I mean a STASH)! Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, babies have a way of spitting up at the most unexpected moments! Plus, when they’re learning to bottle feed, burp cloths come in handy for those little milk dribbles that tend to escape. Trust me, you’ll go through a lot, so stock up!
Pacifiers
There are SO many to choose from! My husband is a pediatric dentist and while he hoped our girls wouldn't use a pacifier at all, he quickly realized having a tool to help our babies soothe and comfort themselves was a gift! Here are some dentist/orthodontist approved pacifiers to help support our baby in the early years! (We recommend dropping the pacifier before age 2! Earlier weaning reduces the risk of developing dental problems and makes the process less emotionally challenging)
Formula Feeding
These are nice to have for keeping your powdered formula on the go!
Bottle Warmers
I don’t think bottle warmers are absolutely essential if you're primarily breastfeeding, since you can easily warm a bottle in a cup of warm water when needed. However, if you're looking for convenience, or if you need to warm multiple bottles a day, or if your baby is particular about bottle temperature, a bottle warmer can be a real game-changer! It’s also a good idea to choose one with an automatic shut-off feature to avoid overheating. And if you use one frequently at home, a portable option for on-the-go use is a great choice. Here are some top picks for both types!
Breastfeeding / Pumping
Firstly, If you don’t have insurance, or insurance isn’t covering breast pumps (they should be!!), then this is great to register for. Talk with your OB + LC, as well as do research of your own and what you think you will need to choose! I've otherwise selected my tried and true FAVORITE finds. I've breastfed and pumped for both of my girls (at home, on the go, at work, EVERYWHERE) Please let my experience help guide you to pick items that will actually work!

Baby Toys
(Ages 0-12m)
Here's the thing about toys. You're going to get endless recommendations and begin to feel overwhelmed with "stuff". My list isn't meant to do that, but to help you narrow it down to what baby truly uses in that first year of life. There's so much growth in that first year! Tummy time, rolling over, scooting, crawling, pulling up and possibly even walking! These toys and items have been used endlessly by both of my girls to help with both fine and gross motor skills (and of course entertaining them so you can drink a hot cup of coffee) and I hope they do the same for your family!
